Our Story

Essence of Shea LLC was founded to make safe and clean skincare accessible in our communities. Imagine walking down a skincare aisle, picking up a product, and reading the ingredients, only to find most of them unfamiliar. Many people, especially those in low-income communities, purchase and use these products mainly because they are affordable; however, they often experience skin irritation or dryness even after consistent use of a moisturizer.

Due to this ongoing issue in our community, Essence of Shea’s Founder and CEO, Shanea Fletcher, began researching the ingredients listed in popular products. She found that many are harmful to the skin and can cause irritation. Even products labeled as "natural" or "clean" still contain toxic ingredients. Shanea was determined to find a better solution for herself and her community, so she took action. She researched the best and worst ingredients for the skin and learned how to formulate a high-quality product.

After extensive research and testing various formulations on herself and her family, she discovered a product that worked wonders and contained no harsh or toxic ingredients. From that moment, Essence of Shea was born, sharing these skin-loving products with our community and across the country because our skin deserves the best care, just as nature intended.
